Technology · cutting head

The IP68 five-axis head we engineer ourselves.

The cutting head is the part that decides the cut — so Rich designs and machines its own. A sealed, waterproof AC five-axis head that bevels 0°–60°, tracks slab height in real time, and generates basin paths on its own.

Why in-house matters

Own the head, own the cut.

Most machine builders buy their cutting head from a supplier and design the machine around it. That means they can't change its geometry, can't integrate its motion with the controller, and can't fix a wear issue at the source — they file a ticket with someone else. Rich machines the AC head at its own production base, so the seal, the five-axis motion, the altimetry and the CNC are engineered together as one system — and serviced by the people who built it.

What the head does

Five axes, one sealed unit.

01

Sealed for the cutting environment

The head runs inside a constant spray of water and abrasive. Rated IP68, it's sealed against both water and dust — so the bearings and drives that hold angle stay protected, cut after cut, instead of degrading in the spray.

02

0–60° bevel for splices and angled edges

A 0°–60° pendulum lets the head cut 45° benchtop splices, mitered edges and angled work in one setup — no second machine, no manual finishing of the angle.

03

±65° A-axis, infinite C-axis

The A-axis tilts ±65° and the C-axis rotates without limit, so the jet can reach any contour and follow a closed path all the way around without unwinding.

04

Real-time altimetry

Slabs aren't perfectly flat. The head measures and maintains its height as it runs, compensating for undulation across the sheet so the jet keeps a consistent standoff and the cut stays even edge to edge.

05

Automatic basin & sink paths

Needle-type probing measures a sink or basin and generates the cutting path automatically; the bed can also be photographed to generate paths from the image — so complex cutouts don't depend on hand programming.
